The INLINE Culture |

The Key to our Success.

Welcome to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at INLINE Culture—the driving force behind everything we do.

At INLINE, we believe that fostering genuine connections among our team members isn’t just beneficial—it’s essential. When people truly know and understand each other, they build stronger relationships, which naturally translate into better collaboration, higher-quality work, and outstanding project outcomes.

Our culture is built on a foundation of mutual respect, shared ambition, and a commitment to success. We create an environment where like-minded individuals can thrive, support one another, and push the boundaries of what’s possible. But culture doesn’t just happen—it’s something we actively invest in. Through carefully designed opportunities and a strong support structure, we empower our team to be their best selves, both professionally and personally.

Curious to see how we do it? Read more below to explore the initiatives that have shaped our success. You might even find inspiration to bring similar ideas into your own business!

1. Build Better Sessions

We believe education is key to progress in our industry. That’s why we actively invest in the ongoing knowledge growth of our team—not just for their development, but to improve the built environment as a whole. Our Build Better Sessions focus on specific skills, techniques, and industry insights relevant to residential construction. Through hands-on workshops, our team shares knowledge and refines their expertise, ensuring they stay ahead of ever-changing NZ Building Code regulations and industry best practices.

So far, we’ve covered topics like Tool Maintenance: How to care for your nail gun, 3D Drawing Techniques - How to communicate detail through oblique and isometric methods, and Working Drawings - How to read and navigate a construction drawing set, equipping both apprentices and experienced builders with the skills they need to excel on-site. This initiative has been running successfully for four years, and we’re committed to growing our collective knowledge for years to come.

2. House Competitions

With our team spread across multiple sites from Kāpiti to Wellington Central and the Wairarapa, staying connected can be a challenge. Since many of our crew are stationed on one site for extended periods, we’ve created an initiative that fosters collaboration, camaraderie, and a bit of friendly competition.

Each year, our team draws numbers from the Sorting Hat to form new houses. From there, they create a team name, logo, and motto, setting the tone for the year’s competitions. Every month, these houses go head-to-head in a variety of challenges, all competing for the Culture Champions Trophy.

From Rock, Paper, Scissors and Paper Plane Flying to Camouflage, Riddles, and Hide & Seek Photo Challenges, our competitions test creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Over the past four years, these monthly challenges have kept our team engaged, fostered a true sense of brotherhood, and even extended beyond work—many of our crew now socialise in their own time.

Even better, these events aren’t just for our team; we love seeing family members join in on the fun, making our workplace culture stronger than ever!

3. Staff Events

At INLINE, we prioritize building strong team connections by bringing our staff together regularly through Monthly Staff Meetings and Quarterly Team Excursions. These gatherings are designed to strengthen collaboration, encourage open communication, and create a cohesive work culture.

Monthly Meetings align the team with our business goals, provide updates on current and upcoming projects, and offer a space for feedback and idea sharing. They ensure everyone is informed, engaged, and working toward our collective objectives.

Our Quarterly Events go a step further—offering shared experiences outside of the workplace that help deepen relationships and create lasting memories. These events not only enrich our team dynamic but also foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie that carries into our daily work.

Some of the events we have completed so far include; INLINE Builder Olympics, Go-Karting, Escape Rooms, The Big INLINE Pub Quiz, Birdies & Brews, Adrenalin Forest, Mini Putt and the INLINE Annual Bowling Championship - to name a few!

4. Our Facility

We feel really lucky to have such an amazing space right in the heart of Wellington. Our HQ is more than just an office—it’s a place that brings people together and gives us room to create, connect, and unwind. Our building is set up to host all kinds of activities, with spaces like a pool room, cinema room, presentation/music studio, a big kitchen, and a fully stocked workshop where staff can dive into personal projects or try something new.

It’s pretty common to find people here after hours or on the weekends—whether it’s watching the rugby on the big screen, having a sewing session, playing a few games of pool or darts, or making music. There’s always something going on. It’s a space that really reflects who we are and the community we’ve built together.

At the end of the day.

At INLINE, culture isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we live every day. From learning new skills and sharing knowledge to go-kart races, monthly challenges, and just hanging out at HQ, we’re all about building real connections. We work hard, have a good laugh, and always back each other up. It’s that sense of teamwork and fun that makes this place special—and we’re stoked to keep it growing!
